Video of the F-111

The F-111 was assembled by a RAAF crew in three days. It has been relocated from the RAAF Amberley to  the AHC, Darwin. It completed the journey as a six day road trip – stopping overnight in Roma, Longreach, Mount Isa, Three Ways, and RAAF Base Tindal at Katherine before arriving on Sunday June 16.
82Wg and 23Sqn are also to be commended for the amazing work they have done in preparing A8-113 after its move to the Top End.

    G’day Team
As an ex-RAAF Refueller, I have many fond memories working with these aircraft that I was so very proud to serve alongside. To be succinct, my Defence time in Qld and most particularly at Amberley, was from 1990 – 2000 My final Defence posting was at RAAF Darwin at Winnellie and had continued to live there for ten years.
I have sitting on my desk in front of me, a 1:48 scale model of the F1-11C A8-113, something that I felt and decided to research on the internet and in turn had led me to this site. I am chuffed and find it ironic that this aircraft made it’s way for final resting place at the Darwin Aviation Museum.
The awesome power and intimidating presence had a profound aura that only the crew and personnel associated with it could really feel and understand. The shows that were presented to the general public for example…the Brisbane River Fire that had illuminated the city with astounding and awesome ‘dump and burns’.
It was a regretful day but a lifetime of held memories when these ‘birds’ were decommissioned.
    With kind regards
